Super problems

When I browse this forum, it is super slow, usually take half an hour to open a new link. I live in China, I guess this may be the reason. If this problem can be resloved , I will appreciate that, if not, that's fine. Therefore I am writing more than one  problem and hopefully they may be resloved in one topic, or else I'll have to be super-patient multi-times.
The second problem is a qbittorrent problem: it often super-slowing the system down!
What is the third one?  I had written it. it is "semi-resolve" though. As I connected any smart phone to the PC system, the phone used to be a USB or MTP driver when the sparky system is not fully upgraded.( I wrote this upgrading issue too, which was resolved.) Now it seems to be connected as a USB driver, but openning any media of the smart phone always fails; that failure function, which I guess or mislead(you), be the function of MTP. So it sounds super-confusing, isn't it?
Thank you and I'll appreciate you.

QuoteWhen I browse this forum, it is super slow, usually take half an hour to open a new link. I live in China, I guess this may be the reason.
Reason for this is that sparky services (webpage, forum, etc. ) are located on one central server in Europe. And we don't have mirrors near your location. Perhaps in a future we will able to afford investment into CDN to provide better distribution of our services across the globe. If using our forum is so cumbersome for you I can only advice you to try our other community hubs: facebook group, reddit, mewe, telegram, irc, matrix.

Qbittorent is buggy. Have you tried transmission-qt?

I have no answer for that yet.

Perhaps I may put a book on my desk, so that I can read while waiting.
Buggie means many bugs, buggy?
USB/MTP issue is not a big problem, alternately I will have to play media on my smart phone. Since you've already helped me to connect them as USB driver, it is much better than no connection at all.

lami07

Yes. I meant buggy.
It seems like not every media players handles playing media of phone connected true USB. As of now Totem is only player playing audio/video files of my android phone.

Pardon me, you had been misunderstanding me. I meant that they'd played on PC when connected, and now they can't. I wrote "USB" is what I had been thinking at that moment; as a matter of fact, most smart phones nowadays have reject "USB" option and now give "MTP" option. Althought I keep on "upgrading" from old smart phones to new, my mind still stays in " USB" option. My mistake. However, the media of smart phone were played on their connected PC's screen, I should have been so satisfied.
There is a issue I not sure that could be an issue at all, it is a warning. With the latest upgrade this time, the terminal showed a W for warining, probably should be "missing a firmware". I missed to print the screen, maybe I'd wait for the next upgrade.

mdre808

How can I use it as a MTP?

bin

In order for MTP access to work as expected I have found that jmtpfs and mtptools plus gvfs-backends provide what is needed.

Also of course you have to tell your phone which protocal to use when you connect via USB.

Did not find "mtptools" in synaptic, the others can be. Yet "mtp-tools" appeared on the list when I looked for "mtp" keyword.

In spite of installing all pacages above, still media files of smart phone cannot be played on PC. Since copying and pasting are avaliable, not a big problem to me; alternatively I will have to see on my smart phone.

Just a second.
If you plug in your phone can you then open it in your file manager and actually see the media file listed?
If so - what sort of file are we talking about? mp3, mp4 ?
Also, is this an android or iphone?

mdre808

Yes, of course I can. I can veiw ,copy, cut between PC and smart phone. Nevertheless, I cannot open media files, such as mp3, avi, mp4 and the like. Andriod phone. Since they can be played perfectly well on the smart phone either, so if cannot be played on PC, just let them be played on smart phone. But as a matter of fact,  they used to be played on the PC in that case when the system was not upgraded to "bullseys"; you may see my other topic of upgrading issues.

mdre808

One more to ask-- what is "this application is supported by this distribution"? From synptic I see some apps are marked like this, some are not. For instance, a popular recording app Audaciy is not, even the system 's default bittorent app i.e., qbittorrent is not too. But rather, ardour and transmission are. However, all four of them are list on "APTus". I can say more; I am confused. Because both the marked "supported" and the not marked seem just normal, regular, system-allowed apps. It sounds that the "supported" one should be the better choice, isn't it?

mdre808

I have already substitued the "better choice"s for the non-supporteds. I mean, the not marked as supported ones are substitued by the supported ones. Believing the better would be the best choice, I have given a few tries.

Some of these questions about "why is application blahblah not supported?" can be answered via going to the Debian packages for each and then looking at change logs, home pages, etc.

For example audacious

https://packages.debian.org/buster/audacious

You will see that it the stable version is very much older than the testing and unstable versions, version 3.10 (the 10th version of version 3 whereas Sid (the kid who KILLS the toys) and testing are 4.0 - still getting to be getting all the bugs out and more polished.   It somewhat fell apart  for development .   It's developers were slow to port to QT5 and ....       I did like it also 8 years ago,   but.    It is starting to come back into active development.    As the years go by, you will lose programs you like.   That is just life in Linux.

As far as the choices are concerned, Sparky is mostly (over 90%) Debian.

1.  Please - make your posts titles more informative and less OMG-things are really bad.

2.   If you are in the stable version of Sparky, stay in stable.   Get your basics down.   Search in the Debian forums about your problems before posting if it is about general Linux of Debian problems.   (Do not post your problems there).

Use the Sparky and Debian Wikis.   I would guess that the Chinese parts of the Debian Wiki is  decent for recent translations of many things.

3.  And if you are not in testing, rolling - please - do not go to testing, you need to work on your basics. Come January when the every other years freeze occurs, you might choose to go to testing if you have mastered the basics.

4.  Some of the choices of standard programs come via the base OS, Debian in this case.   This is especially true for the command line programs.       Many of the choices for the graphical  programs come from the metapackaging that comes from  the Desktop Environement (DE) that you have chosen.  A Gnome ' ish DE will go with GTK 3.   KDE and LXQT with QT5.   XFCE and LXDE with more simpler programs tailored to one or several things well.
Search forum for "More info easier via inxi"    If requested -  no inxi, no help for you by  me.
