Sparky XanMod v3 kernel will not boot

I am trying to get Sparky to boot up with the XanMod stable kernel v3 (couldn't install v4) and ran into problems. First, on kernel 6.1.0-37-amd64, I had the acpi_call module (acpi-call-dkms package) installed, and after installing the XanMod kernel, it would fail to configure that kernel. The errors popped up for anything  installed or removed via apt. I finally got somewhat smart and removed the acpi-call-dkms package, and the XanMod kernel was able to be configured. Or so I thought.

I ran sudo update-grub both on Sparky and on MX Linux 23, which is the master distro for grub boot (Sparky's uEFI install botched booting up other distros, long story, but used MX boot repair to get it fixed).

NOW, when I reboot, I can see the "Advanced Options" for Sparky, including XanMod and its recovery instance, but when I select either, it fails to boot and comes back to the main MX grub menu. I have to chose the Sparky 6.1.0-37amd version to get here.

Not sure where to look to find out what the issue is and correct it. Any ideas?

Does anyone ever reply to posts on Sparky forum? Not that I'm desperate or anything ;) but so far, I've had exactly 0 replies to anything I've posted. Is this a ghost town? Don't mean to offend, just curious!

xanmod kernel is a 3rd party stuff, so contact with the kernel dev.

Thanks, @pavroo! I understand that, but it's offered in the Aptus AppCenter, so I figured someone in the Sparky packaging team would know about such things that are offered there. Guess not. Dang.

Your sig is right, @pavroo -- nothing is as easy as it looks, indeed!

So I went back into Aptus AppCenter -> System -> Kernels and clicked on "Remove old system kernel", then chose the XanMod kernel, and off it went, supposedly removing the kernel. But it did NOT remove it.

So one can only ADD new kernels, not remove them?

"Something's rotten in Denmark!" (Or at least with the Sparky packages management?) :)
