panel question in Sparky Mate 7.5

i have an up/down arrow , a nine 9, and an A  in the panel and can't remove them.

does anyone know what they are ? and how do i remove them.

Open a terminal and type:
mate-panel --reset
Which will leave the panel, with its default settings.

Reminds me of a Network connection symbol, maybe a theme icon for nm-applet.

I've seen such as indicators for NumLock and CapsLock state.

This is a feature to know if the cap and num lock is on in Mate. Here are the instructions to turn it on or off.

I know this topic is old, but this might help people that don't have the led lights to know if the cap and num locks are on  or off.
