Update time quicker?

I have been using the standard install for a Pi, and it is updated regularly.

Is there a way to make the time update be performed earlier in the boot process?

On demand, my Pi systems boot into a special site that has a real time comparison display system, and until the update is done the error gives incorrect timings.  I don't want to install a RTC battery system. The errors immediately resolve once the update is done, but this can be a few minutes of delay.

It would be much better if the actual time update process could be done earlier, but I don't have enough knowledge to get this happening...if it is possible at all.  From observation it seems to be done as part of the desktop system, but if it could be done as part of the basic boot process once WAN is established that would be better. Again...it might be doing this anyway!  I don't know!

Thoughts please, and thanks!

cheers
