I'm running Po-Tolo (bullseye) and can't upgrade Firefox from 68.0.2 to 72.0.2-1 (shown by Synaptic) due to failed dependencies. Why? If Synaptic shows 72.0.2-1 as an upgrade candidate shouldn't that mean that dependencies have been checked upstream? Is this a packaging error?

The firefox package is built on Debian unstable sid with sid dependencies, which can be a little different then in testing.
Run in a terminal emulator:
sudo apt update
Then run and show me the output:
sudo apt install firefox
Nothing is easy as it looks. Danielle Steel

I just noticed the installed libc6 (2.28-10) is incorrect which seems to be breaking dependencies. 2.28-10 is the Buster libc6. The Bullseye (testing) libc6 is 2.30-8. Since Po-Tolo is Bullseye shouldn't libc6 2.30-8 already be installed?

My sources.list:

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ testing non-free contrib main
deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates non-free contrib main
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates non-free contrib main
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org/ testing non-free main

There are no references to anything other than "testing" so this should cover Bullseye, no?

There has been a glitch - bug  in the forum software for awhile, websites get marked up as code.    For future reference, using  the output of      "inxi -r"      and marking up as code stops - negates the code breakup   example

paxmark@sway:~$ inxi -r
Repos:     Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list
           1: deb http://mirror.steadfast.net/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
           2: deb-src http://mirror.steadfast.net/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

Note:  this is on straight sid on the 10 y.o. atom. My sparky lxqt is the on other half of the dual boot
My output of what Pavroo asked you to do is  (in Sid).

Summary:
firefox(5 bugs)
Are you sure you want to install/upgrade the above packages? [Y/n/?/...] sudo apt install firefox

Note:  the graves and serious bugs do not appear to be that life threatening. Reading on bug 931334 is a good example - the reply to the first poster states why it is not as grave as stated.

Your mileage may vary (YMMV) as my example is in a straight Debian environment.  It would not hurt for you to post what pavroo asked.   "sudo apt install firefox"                    f

Search forum for "More info easier via inxi"    If requested -  no inxi, no help for you by  me.

Incorrect. It's not a glitch, it's a feature and has it's purpose :-)

No - fiddling around with Firefox is irrelevant if the foundation has a flaw. libc6 affects everything, not just Firefox. Once the correct standard libraries are in place then it makes sense to look at Firefox in more detail.
