Are you all of a sudden seeing ads in Firefox(-esr)?

No I do not have any real answers yet, solution might be traveling off to the mirrors I use.  Sigh Chromium.

Edited - addition   More info, some in German, but they have Gtranslate

Someone theorized that if you were "smart" and used a password manager to login to websites, you'd be in bad shape right now.

This is what happens when you fire people at Mozilla based on politics, and then start banning code from running on your browser (based on more politics.)

Not sure I understand, do you mean usage of an external password-manager like keepassx keepass2 or the command line ones or using your browser  to store passwords.  No problems presently for me with keepassx.

Side issue -  I have not seen the fix for me for firefox-esr (backports ?? pinned somehow  ??) on Debian stable .  Sparky rolling got the fix via Debian quickly.  Hmm, testing is supposed t get security updates last.  Very fast on that fix especially for the freeze.  Not a top issue for me as I plan to remove the +2-3/4 year old stretch with a clean install of Buster on my stable box.    peace out.

Yeah, the browser-based password manager would be the problem.
