Re installing gameover

I'm running a gameover edition or rather was. I went in for a reboot as it was not responding. Now I'm stuck with the login screen. Despite repeatedly entering the password it just keeps looping back to the login screen. If I run Sparky gameover edition without allowing it to format will the old files be untouched?

I have had a similar problem with a debian testing distro, try typing username press enter cursor should move to password input now type password press enter and it should work (hopefully) it did for me.  :)
