i recently installed xfce version of sparky linux and is working well

i noticed it came with an app called wintube, which i would like to try. however while it starts up fine, it does not play the videos when the play button is pressed

is this a software issue that nothing can be done about, or some settings that need to be tweaked ?

tks

i really like this distro that works well out of the box

Hi
I am glad that you enjoying Sparky.
Honestly I never heard about wintube, it looks like something for Windows.
There is Minitube - is this what you mean?

I am not happy with minitube, that's why I changed it for smtube in sparky 3.5.
Anyway run the command 'minitube' in a terminal emulator and show me the output.

nals@fujitsu:~$ minitube
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 3
QPainter::setCompositionMode: Painter not active
QPainter::end: Painter not active, aborted

how do i get to sparky 3.5 ? i am using your standard setup/repositories and have upgraded the system

thank you ?

It looks like a problem with Qt.
I suggest to report it on Qt forums:
http://qt-project.org/forums/

3.x of Sparky is just a number of a new iso image. After installing and upgrading you have Debian testing under the hood so can't find any info that it's Sparky 3.3/3.4/3.5, etc.

You said that you have Xfce edition, but what architecture? 32 or 64 bit so I will have a look into my installation.

As the first you have to configure smtube -> click on the toys icon to open configuration window and choose a player, for example vlc.

Try to open a video file manually.
In a terminal emulator (xfce4-terminal for example) run commands:
vlc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkF5XTtuD2g&feature=youtu.be
and
gnome-mplayer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkF5XTtuD2g&feature=youtu.be
If it not opens the video show me the output text, please.

thank you

both of the links work

i clicked the play button on smtube a few times, it responded with something about youtube having changed the settings, and needing to recalibrate, after clikcing "ok" it is working

mini tube is not working, so i stick to browser or smtube
