5.13 minimal GUI, boot hangs on mounting by UUID

Hello all,

I have installed the minimal GUI with CDE on two computers, one old Imac, where I used a DVD, as the USB-stick blocks the startup, and on a newer Lenovo from the USB-stick. In both cases booting after install hangs on trying to mount the EFI-partition by UUID. The reson is that it tries to mount the partition using UUID "EFI" (DVD-install) or "SYSTEM" (USB-install), both are wrong.

My solution was to boot another system, mount the partition with Sparky and replacing EFI and SYSTEM with the correct UUIDs. I do not know if this was the best way to do it, but it worked.

Now I wonder, did this only happen to me, and if so, what could I have done wrong? The checksum for the downloaded image was OK, and it was written to the stick exactly according to the instructions. There were some other errors too, such as Grub being installed despite that I chose not to install it and the installation (advanced isntaller with GUI9 reported it not being installed.

Posting (as code via the # button) of the contents of /etc/fstab would be helpful. It is always appreciated to also post the output of "inxi -bp"   b flag is "basic"  p flag is "partitions".

The fstab UUID's EFI entry shouldn't be like that.
# efi /dev/sda1
UUID=EFI /boot/efi vfat defaults 0 0

Never tried to install it from a DVD, have to make a test.

QuoteNever tried to install it from a DVD, have to make a test.

The same happened when I installed from an USB-image on a Lenovo.

For that /boot/efi   on /dev/sda1         UUID=BE49-C598         or       UUID=EFI         looks very short. But then I am not familiar with mac and wow 12 years old.

Maybe try     "sudo blkid /dev/sda1"    to determine the correct  UUID   and paste in,

peace out

 UUID=BE49-C598 works fine, there is a longer PARTUUID too. Obviously I solved the problem the right way, but what makes the installation program set the false UUID? The age and brand of the computer are irrelevant, I got the same result on a four years old Lenovo.

If I had just wanted to try Sparky, I would have stopped the trial right there and try another distribution in stead. However I wanted to try out CDE without having to compile it myself, so I put some extra effort into it, and I think it was worth it, not only for CDE, but generally.
