Sparkyphone

Hello,
i had to reinstall Sparky, because the old installation became slow and other problems occured after 4 months of using. Maybe it's the old thinkpad X61T Duo Core. This time I chose the LXQT-Desktop, because I thought it consumes less processor-capacity. But now it seems that LXQT is not worked out as well as the Xfce Desktop:
When I try to unpack a *.tar.gz - archiv (my old thunderbird-profile) using the context menu, nothing happened. This is unusual. Any other Linux can do this at least. I'm sure a technical solution is possible, there will be some kind of terminal commands to do this, but unfortunately this is to time-consuming for me. The Notebook has to be in working condition tomorrow morning.
As I didn't find any topic to this, I'm going to install the Xfce-Desktop again, because after that, I expect there will occur more problems with the LXQT.
Sad I have to say that, Sparky is a good OS apart from that.

At Sparkyphone:

Your problem might be that your computer isn't compatible with Sparky.. It happens with some Linux OS's..
I found that a few hard drives need be completely formatted to eliminate junk that causes troubles in new installs.. DBAN is a good program to format an old hard drive.. If you run DBAN be sure your backups aren't connected to the USB slots...
Some problems like yours can be a bad hard drive full of bad sectors.. Try a newer hard drive.. If you want speed buy an SSD hard drive.. Do some research to determine the good SSD's from the crap ones..
I tried 'Sparky Mate Plasma' at the start.. I works 98% perfect...
You need to do a lot of customizing..
I use it only for a little bit of internet.. It's super for writers and inventors because it's so quiet, clean, uncluttered, and user friendly, same as Linux Mint Mate 20.3, but its better than Mint 20.3 because it's Mint 20 modernized.. It's built to be secure, clean, honest, kind, by super good honorable people...

I recommend 'Sparky Mate Plasma'.. Do so install Portmaster and Librewolf if you want even better security...
I am targeted by blackhat hacker bullies.. Those vile pests haven't been able to break into Sparky after I dumped: UFW, firefox, bluetooth, transmission, and chat.. and installed Portmaster and Librewolf...

I recommend that everyone who tries Sparky, goes into all the settings, and makes a big mess testing and trying out everything.. Have fun learning and destroying the OS on the first install, then reinstall it, and make all the right choices...
