apt --fix-broken install

I have a very rarely used installation of Sparky, in VirtualBox.

A few months ago – probably 27th August 2024, after not using the machine since 3rd June – when an upgrade failed (and the GUI was unusable) I was invited to run:

apt --fix-broken install

The command failed, repeatedly, so I shelved the installation for a while.

On 22nd February 2025, I took the two screenshots below. As far as I can tell:

• the ultimate error related to libkdecorations2 and libkdecorations3
• https://forum.sparkylinux.org/index.php/topic,6557 in June 2024 was for a comparable failure involving a different pair of packages.

On 29th March, when I retried the command, it succeeded. I proceeded to fix installations of KDE and SDDM.

If it's not too vague a question:

• was I simply unlucky in August last year and February this year?
