I was not sure what you wanted.  I looked some things up up about encrypting a folder (or partition or hard drive) on the Debian wiki, but it was old.

From http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=133442        Looking for Encryption Solution  goes to

https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/how-to-encrypt-directories-and-partitions-with-ecryptfs-on-debian/   How to Encrypt Directories/Partitions with eCryptfs on Debian 8 (Jessie)

However Sparky is using testing which went to Buster (will be Debian 10 in about 2 years)  - but the guide might work for you.  I have no folders encrypted at this point myself.  For a very in depth review of encryption the Arch Linux site has much info and also mentions eCryptfs

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Disk_encryption
Search forum for "More info easier via inxi"    If requested -  no inxi, no help for you by  me.

@march23
There is VeraCrypt available in Sparky repos which can do what you need.

@carlo
I already checked tomb and gtomb, and will try to debianize them both.
