Hello Everyone,

I installed SparkyLinux on a Thinkpad T43 yesterday but I am not able to watch videos on YouTube using Otter Browser, I am getting the following error:

An error occurred. Please try again later (Playback ID: xxxxx)

I have updated the system and after doing some research edited the WiFi settings by changing IPv4 settings to:

Additional DNS Servers 8.8.8.8
Additional 8.8.4.4

Can anyone please suggest a fix?

While I do have hopes for Otter - it is in development.   A search for <<debian package otter>> in duckduck yields a first answer of How to Install in Debian Sid.  Sid, the kid who destroys toys and computers from Toy Story,  the wild difficult place in Debian.  Do Not Do That.

Otter is packaged for Sparky for people to try, kick the tires and when things go wrong  - Go to Otter Web page

First thing I would do is to temporarily use Firefox-esr, even though it will be slower.  Then investigate and see if others here post or if the things above work.

And my favourite tool as far as Youtube goes  is "youtube-dl"  It will download the video.  The man is fairly good.

And to extract audio, format to mp3 and add a thumbnail - From BunsenLabs forum and Siduction forum.

youtube-dl --extract-audio --prefer-ffmpeg --audio-format mp3 --audio-quality 0 --embed-thumbnail  "URL"     ### in  a terminal.  To paste into terminal Ctl-Shift-V    not the usual Ctl-V

peace out.

Search forum for "More info easier via inxi"    If requested -  no inxi, no help for you by  me.

Thanks, I installed Firefox-esr as you suggested and all is now good, so I guess the problem was with Otter.
