Sparky applications / Re: Every browser freezes
« Last post by suman on January 13, 2021, 04:49:51 pm »
Hi. I'm using the Sparky 6 (Po-Tolo) with Xfce on my Acer Swift SF314-51. I'm a regular user of Debian stable and never faced stuff like this before. I installed the iso downloaded only yesterday and right after installation pushed through an upgrade  :-\. Let me know any update to this issue or any more info required.

This is posted two places very recently.   You are not giving us crucial information, your DE and especially  your version of Sparky.  If you are new to linux as always I recommend that you start with the Stable version.

In the future - posting the output of "inxi -b"  is always good.   Example follows.   Mark up as code via # button.   Ctl-Shift C and to copy from terminal   Ctl-Shift - V to copy to terminal.

Code: [Select]
inxi -b
System:    Host: dbnbuster Kernel: 4.19.0-13-amd64 x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: LXQt 0.14.1 Distro: Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)

man inxi    There are youtube videos about inxi.  inxi has numerous flags to help us diagnose.

Sparky applications / [Solved] Every browser (Chrome, Chromium) freezes
« Last post by suman on January 13, 2021, 03:15:39 pm »
I installed Spaky for the first time today and got surprised to know how underrated it is!!! However, I'm facing a major issue right from the start: every secondary browser I install freezes the whole system on start. At first I faced it for Chromium, but then I realized it's the same for everything else (Chrome, Brave, Opera). However, the default Firefox works well. Any working solution is welcome.

System upgrading / Re: After Upgraded, Being Abnormal

After upgraded, those issues are the following: 1, When file manager is opened, the mouse is always busy. 2, The whole task bar aera is no more working.  it neither be clicked, nor working.

Those issues are fixed in Sid. It is matter of time for the fix to land in debian testing repo. Please have patience and wait little bit more.

Meanwhile to prevent lxqt panel from crushing disable qlipper. Running killall qlipper in terminal whenever you reboot your system would be way to go.

I am just a hobbyist who has used LXQT from stable to testing to unstable for years, but only have a stable version at present.   IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is something that took me a bit of time to learn and it takes time to watch the problems surface from others. On OFTC  #lxqt     To start using irc on a system that is not working well is even less fun.   I am all out of ideas.

System upgrading / Re: Chrome 87 freezes after system upgrade on Sparky 6

Whatever is the reason for this behavior is already fixed in Sid. So it is just a matter of time for the fix to come down the pipe to debian testing repo.

I removed ~./config/google-chrome and the ~./cache/google-chrome  but that didn't help. I start to believe it's a wider issue (or issues), especially that LXDE taskbar freezes so it's not just the browser.

I have a Debian Testing VM - installed fresh Chrome 87 and it runs fine. No previous Chrome installed on that VM

Is it worth renaming the ~./config/google-chrome file and likewise the ~./cache/google-chrome and see if that helps?

Desktops / Re: LXDE on Bullseye - Sparky 6 Shutdown Bug
« Last post by bin on January 12, 2021, 06:23:30 am »
If that's the case get rid of that garbage and install thunar
Thunar works fine as a file manager but LXDE uses PCManfm to draw the desktop.

I can of course use xfdesktop to run the desktop in a hybrid which I have done in the past, but XFCE 4.16's GTK3 only interface is awkward to match up with some of my older themes.

The purpose if the the thread was not to seek solace or solutions, merely so that if anyone else encounters the same problem they will have an explanation of why shutdown hangs.
