Das ist neu und ich weiß nicht was ich machen kann? Ich bemühe mich aber bin leider nicht so Sattelfest in Linux, wie es hier eventuell nötig ist.
Danke für einen Rat in dieser Sache.

apparently I could not get xfce4-screensaver installed using sudo apt install, but sudo apt-get install installed it right away and the lock screen now functions as it should.
I am curious though why it isn't installed by default on the image
