Title: How to switch to LightDM Slick Greeter?
Post by: jrasmussen on August 11, 2019, 04:17:16 AM
Hi all,
Trying SparkyLinux (rolling) with the MATE desktop for the first time.  I have a HIDPI screen and would like to switch from lightdm-gtk-greeter to lightdm-slick-greeter to accommodate that.  I have downloaded the slick-greeter and lightdm-settings, but I need to know what steps are involved to switch from one to the other.

Thanks!

Hi
If you already installed slick-greeter, check what is the default greeter:
sudo lightdm --show-config
If 'lightdm-greeter' is, then edit lightdm config:
sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
and change in [Seat:*] section line from:
#greeter-session=example-gtk-gnome
to:
greeter-session=lightdm-slick-greeter
