Title: Slow downloads
Post by: bub524 on January 23, 2019, 07:31:59 PM
Hello, I'm new to the forum but not to Linux. Have been using it exclusively for about 5 years and still learning.
I have downloaded both 32 and 64 bit versions of Sparky and the 32 bit runs perfect on my older laptops. The 64 bit version on my newer ( 3-4 years old) 64 bit laptops installs fine and runs good, but the problem I am experiencing is with down loading any software. A program, such as wsjtx for ham radio, takes ten seconds or less with other distros on the same machines. Even the 32 bit machines are very fast with Sparky 32. But the 64 bit version will take 15-20 minutes. It's the same with anything I try to down load. It's extremely slow. Any thoughts on this? Thanks
