For better or worse I have the Debian version in Stable Stretch = Sparky 4 - my production machine.
Extremely brave people in Sparky 5 might be able to try it out with the Virtualbox proprietary ppa. If I was to do that - I would wait however for 6.0.1 or 6.1.
Host32 is gone. Not really a surprise. After all virtualization takes memory. Both of my bare metal Sparky5's are 32 bit.
The good news is that the propriertary version should work well in Buster - Sparky5 when that becomes stable. Not sure but hopefully the opensource .deb also makes it to Buster when it goes stable. Debian does not always see "eye to eye" with VirtualBox. Progress in Debian can be monitored at

As always when buying new equipment - if you want to use virtual machines with qemu, vbox or whatever, - check the CPU flags to ensure they have the right hooks and load up on memory.
