Title: No battery available, freeze on shutdown
Post by: anthoff on November 21, 2016, 06:19:37 PM
Hello everybody,

at first i am a newbie with Sparky and Linux.
I installed Sparky KDE on my new Notebook Terra Mobile 1542 and have two problems: sparky kann not recognize my battery (no battery available) and the OS freezes with a blue Sparky-screen a few seconds after the GUI-order to shutdown. I propose an acpi-problem, but i don't know how to fix it.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

PS: sorry for my English, it not my native language.

Newbie, Debian Testing (which Sparky is based on) and KDE is going to be extremely difficult. Watch in OFTC #debian-next and install apt-listbugs.  Also #debian-kde if you continue.

KDE is still under intense development.  This transition in winding down presently here in testing.  https://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=6412.0  - but not yet.  These are the transitions that will be occurring  in the near future. https://release.debian.org/transitions/  are the things to come.

I would suggest lxde or xfce instead at this point.  If you really like QT5 go with lxqt - watch in freenode #lxde.   Lxqt still will have bugs, but not as many as KDE - testing involves finding and fixing bugs.  As the freeze hardens, you can transfer to KDE which should settle down.  I do like lxqt.  peace out

As always journalctl -b -1 (you can a use tail to skip to the end) will give you clues about your prior sessions shutdown.
