i use openbox by default so it's listed there initially.
there is no login option though for going straight to the command line.
yes i know there is the grub rescue option but it doesn't load my wifi and after trying to use the instructions in my linux manual and looking it up online i cant get wifi to start from the command line so i've abandoned the idea of using grub rescue command line option and im hoping i can add the option to light dm. i dont want to start an xsession. command line only login thanks.

Well, it doesn't solve it 100%, but you can always just switch to the console with Ctrl+Alt+F1...F6 (Sparky has 6 text consoles available, it's Debian's default). It'll leave the LightDM hanging in there, but it's not as resource-hungry as a full-blown user login. Ctrl+Alt+F7 switches you back to Xorg/LightDM.
