Title: Bug in deb soundcard setup. setup volume too loud & hums
Post by: galen on April 07, 2014, 09:32:26 PM
3.3.1 LXDE 64bits.

Installer finds my sound chip

realtek ALC850

trouble is on boot up; hum is generated on the analog output because a pre-amp gets set to MAX boost.

As pulseaudio sleeps the audio when idle the sound chip output pops.

The debian bug is in the LINE Mute selection,

(you can test this with GNOME ALSA mixer)

if LINE IN is set to MUTE the pre-amp goes into MAX boost and you get the hum & pops (not to mention VERY loud audio output ~+20db gain!)

UNMUTE the LINE IN and the boost and hum stop.

I don't have debian bug report account, so if someone will report this that would be great.
