I just installed Sparky 8 Xfce and I am very satisfied with this promissing OS.
However, I encountered a strange problem : the sound card of my laptop is detected, see below, but, in the Settings of Audio mixer, I get a message, "no cards available for configuration" !
Therefore, I got no sound !
Yet, Inxi -F tells me :
Audio:
Device-1: Intel Raptor Lake-P/U/H cAVS driver: sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl
API: ALSA v: k6.10.3-amd64 status: kernel-api
What is the procedure to make my computer detecting the sound card ?
In the same laptop, I have another SSD with Mint 22 installed : the same sound card is properly detected and the sound works correctly.

Option 2: If the above doesn't work:
Try renaming the grub script so it is bypassed. It isn't a long term solution but you may be able to run your updates.

Update done also linux-image-6.9.9-amd64 and linux-image-6.9.12-amd64 are removed.
I turned back the "bad script"

Sparky seems to be where I'm settling in on 'nix after many, many trials with many, many distros.
And one sad affair with Windows that started back in '03, all the way to Win10. That was all I could tolerate from M$.
Still learning my way around Linux for the most part but I'll try not to ask too many stupid questions.
I did serve a year and a half as an IT assistant (in a Windows Server network, but hey...) way back in the day, so I'm at least a little resourceful.

Jestem na Sparky od dłuższego czasu i mam
głupia reakcja, aby uaktualnić moją wersję 6.6 (przekazaną w 6.7) z 7.4,
Testowałem też ósemkę z kręgli, ale wpakowałem się w kłopoty...
Poza tym, Pavrooo powiedział mi, że wersja 6.6 jest w porządku do czerwca 2026...
Posunąłem się nawet do formatowania mojego dysku twardego, z zapasami kopii zapasowych (lol),
zainstalować wersję 7.4 tak, że system jest na czystym pc!
Z wersjami 8 i 7.4, znacznie mniej łatwość obsługi,
instalacja i demontaż aplikacji... Wnioski, które nie
Nie działa czy źle, problem myszki, przepływ, ekran, blokada...
Mam też kłopoty z Synaptykiem, połamanymi plikami?
Mam powiedzieć, że to wina mojego komputera?
To przez mój sprzęt, czy popełniam błędy?

I've been on Sparky for quite a while and I've had the
stupid reaction to want to update my version 6.6 (passed in 6.7) with 7.4,
I also tested the 8 in the bowling, but I got into a lot of trouble...
Besides, Pavrooo told me that version 6.6 was okay until June 2026...
I even went so far as to format my hard drive, with backups of backups (lol),
to install version 7.4 so that the system is on a clean pc!
With versions 8 & 7.4, much less ease of operation,
installation & disinstallation of applications... Applications that do not

I also run into trouble with Synaptic, broken files?, all these galeries that

Je suis sous Sparky depuis pas mal de temps et j'ai eu la
réaction idiote de vouloir mettre à jour ma version 6.6 (passée en 6.7)avec la 7.4,
j'ai testé aussi la 8 en roolling, mais je me suis enlisé par plusieurs soucis...
De plus, Pavrooo m'a bien dit que la version 6.6 était ok jusqu'en juin 2026...
Je suis meme allé jusqu'à formater mon disque dur, avec sauvegardes des sauvegardes (lol),
pour installer la version 7.4 pour que le systeme soit sur un pc "propre" !
Avec les versions 8 & 7.4, beaucoup moins de facilité au sujet du fonctionnement,
des installations & désinstallations des applications... Applications qui ne
fonctionnent pas ou mal, probleme de souris, de débit, d'écran, de blocages...
Je rencontre aussi des soucis avec Synaptic, fichiers cassés ?, toutes ces galeres qui
me font dire que c'est peut-etre de la faute de mon pc ?
Est-ce du à mon matériel ou est-ce moi qui fait des erreurs ?
En ce moment, je suis repassé avec la version 6.6...
