Well I found a solution myself. This is want I did.
  • Hit Menu - > Settings Manager -> Keyboard
  • Hit Layout
  • "Remove" Use System Default
  • Choose Caps Lock under "Change layout option" choose "a key you never use" under "Compse key"
  • Hit Close
[/list]

Your done. Caps lock don't act as Caps Lock!

Newbie questions / Dsiable CapsLock key
Last post by wow1968 - August 15, 2024, 08:39:40 PM
I'm new to xfce and SparkyLinux. First impression on Sparky is very nice.

But my thick fingers too often touch the CapsLock key. I want to know if there is an easy way disabling it.
I do not want to install gnome-tweaks as I'm now on xfce.

Any tip is much appriciated.

System upgrading / Goodbye boot after upgrade
Last post by frank62 - August 15, 2024, 09:26:11 AM
Hello.
I have installed sparky 7.4 , stable, Kde version, on a SSD connected to an ACER Aspire 5, with windows 11. As suggested by
https://forum.sparkylinux.org/index.php/topic,5787.msg15709.html#msg15709,
i turned off secure boot before installation, and then turned it back on afterwards. Sparky worked for a while, but after one or more updates ( of the kernel ), it stopped working, in the sense that, at boot there is SSD, but selecting it, the classic error message "Security boot Fail" appears, with the padlock.

Is there an easy solution ?

Edit: If you DL the big iso, devuan_daedalus_5.0.1_amd64_desktop.iso; the user can choose from 6 or 8 desktops, LXQT among.

I'd like to add here to remove systemd from LXQT and ideally, move to Devuan base.

Hey Pavroo and Sparkers, I'm new to the community. Thank you for your work!
Quick observations and suggestions:
- It'd be good if sparky website and forum not to have ads
- Please add nexa.org address for donations
- Sparky KDE Wayland has klauncher issue and runs slow. KDE is not lightweight.
- Even if installed, Sparky KDE won't launch GDEBI installer. I had to install .deb package using terminal.
- Sparky XFCE X11 has screen tearing issue (does Sparky LXQT also has the same issue?) GTK is not lightweight.
- Maybe consider focusing on just one lighweight QT DE and make it the best? The most lightweight QT DE - LXQT. We lack one DE/LXQT focus projects. Consider dropping KDE / XFCE / MATE and focus on just one semi-rolling LXQT. Focus your resources to make one DE/OS/ISO the best.
- Installed Brave browser using official brave method, but synaptic had issues updating. Do you recommend using Sparky repos first?
- Kindly take a look at spirallinux and apply as much as their tweaks as possible.
- Please add koofr.eu app in sparky repo.
