I have been trying to install balenaetcher from the repository via Synaptic. It keeps giving me an error. I have also tried it with Aptus. Same result. I noticed the version in the repository is outdated 1.5.73. The current version is 1.5.105. I can install it via Github, but when I do, the updater wants to downgrade the package to 1.5.73 and attempts to download it over and over and over again. Any thoughts?
It is not possible.
There is balena-etcher-electron 1.5.109 in Sparky repos.
Refresh package list and show me the output:
sudo apt update
apt policy balena-etcher-electron
Here it is! Thanks for responding! Currently, I have used apt-mark hold on balenaetcher so I can otherwise upgrade system. Here is what you asked for
herndon@herndon-pc:~$ sudo apt update

Ok...
I think this must be a keyring issue. I tried installing the new one, but I am still getting the same error. Here is what I did.
First I tried
wget -O - https://repo.sparkylinux.org/sparky.gpg.key | sudo apt-key add -
then ran sudo apt update... No luck NO_PUBKEY 5CA76B26C40956B8
Then, I downloaded the .deb file and tried to install it... No luck when I ran sudo apt update. Got the same error NO_PUBKEY 5CA76B26C40956B8
Then, I downloaded the sparky keyring file sparky.gpg.key (dated 2/3/20) and installed it directly to both usr/share/keyring AND etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/ Same error NO_PUBKEY 5CA76B26C40956B8
I am basing my actions on post https://forum.sparkylinux.org/index.php/topic,5188.msg13705.html
Please help
Try:
wget -O - https://repo.sparkylinux.org/sparky.gpg.key | sudo apt-key add -
and:
wget -O - https://repo.sparkylinux.org/sparkylinux.gpg.key | sudo apt-key add -
then:
sudo apt update
and check Sparky keys:
sudo apt-key list | grep Sparky
After the first step, I got an error message. Here it is
herndon@herndon-pc:~$ wget -O - https://repo.sparkylinux.org/sparky.gpg.key | sudo apt-key add -
