Title: no root install?
Post by: vp_nbi on June 10, 2020, 11:43:00 PM
Trying to install 2020.06 Xfce, but the installer quits because it doesn't allow a root install. Really? According to the Debian Root Wiki "At installation time, you are asked whether you want to use the root account or not."

So with the Sparky installer I need to install using a non-root account and then fiddle around with the configuration to coerce automatic root login. Why?? If a user wants to install as root shouldn't that be their choice?

If you use Sparky Installer (Calamare), it lets you configure the root account or not.
Anyway the root account is active, but all your admin jobs have to be done via sudo
