Installation / 32bit UEFI + 64bit Sparkylinux...
Last post by mekanik - May 23, 2023, 01:26:06 AM
Hi,
I am trying to make an intel atom laptop work with Sparkylinux CLI version. This is an Asus T100TAF , intel atom CPU device.
So it has 32bit EUFI with an 64bit CPU.
Regular 64bit liveUSB is bootable and i can start the installation. with manual partitioning 300mb EFI-fat32
3GB swap and 27GB linux system,
installation eventually fails at the end with an error.
i assume this topic is talking about same thing.

Quote from: pavroo on May 21, 2023, 11:14:54 AMThere is libjpeg8 in Sparky core repos.
Anyway, libtiff5 and libweb6 were missing so uploaded to repos. Refresh package list and try again.

It was a problem on Sparky 7; Sparky 6 has all deps.
Thanks for reporting.
Thank you - this was a fresh test of 6.7. It seems it didn't complain about libtiff5 or libwebp6, or the error message may just have flashed by during loading.
I appreciate the quick response.

Thanks for supplying the latest (sic) version of Lightzone.

There is a dependency on libjpeg8 which is not being pulled in - can you update the installer please?

I have installed the newest sparky kernel 6.3.1 but there is an error on start:
wrong shim signature.
I had to use kernel 6.1.0-8 to start using a system.

Last post by rektal - May 11, 2023, 07:06:25 AM
I use Muon package manager. I am on 6.1.0-8 kernel now.
I found that there  are packages like:
- linux-headers-6.3.1-sparky-amd64
- linux-image-6.3.1-sparky-amd64
and
- linux-headers-6.3.1-sparky7-amd64
- linux-image-6.3.1-sparky7-amd64.

What is the difference between them?

In the end, it was a hardware issue. The laptop worked perfectly with LXQT 5.16. Checking the hardware, I found no issues.

I think Imagmagick WAS once or still IS a LibreOffice dependency for image to pdf creation, explaining why it was installed.

Since Imagemagick is a standalone application explains why 'sudo apt autoremove' does not remove it.

Why Imagemagick was on all but one of my machines I have not figured out.  Imagemagick looks like a useful terminal application.

Thanks.

It could be installed as a dependency to a new package you have installed or upgraded.
It it not explolit for sure.
