Title: How to add a bookmark to the desktop
Post by: nom001 on May 17, 2019, 10:59:18 PM
Hi all,

Just imnstalled Sparky on an old laptop. Using Firefox ESR since i get an error message telling me that the installed operating is out of date (?????). So continue with Firefox ESR.

Now i like to add website bookmarks to the desktop which doesn't seem to work. Anyone here who can help me with this?

Also, I'm not able to add extensions or add-on's to to Firefox ESR. When i try this, I get 2 messages: 1) the package i try to install seems to be broken (???) 2) i don't haver a network connection which seems weird because i'm connected to the internet through LAN (wired connection) and it works flawless! Anyone who can help me with this?

Many thanks!

Details are always nice version 4 or 5,    where you have looked prior,

http://sparkylinux.org/forum/index.php/topic,4901.msg12730.html#msg12730      shows you where the problem comes from .

http://sparkylinux.org/forum/index.php/topic,4913.msg12754.html#msg12754      might fix things for you.  You will have to edit your /etc/apt/sourceslist in a terminal.

For the bookmarks - do you really want 100 bookmarks (I have over 100 in various folders) on your desktop or would you like them organized and easy to get in Firefox-esr.
Ctl-D  will open up to add a book mark to your browser.  Ctl-D should also work on most other browsers and importing and exporting to Chromium, etc. is not hard.

If fixed, please edit Subject to Solved: what you wrote.

Seems like a lot of other people are having the "connection" problem in firefox
https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2019/05/04/update-regarding-add-ons-in-firefox/

I'd love to help you install a new version of firefox, but I'd have to direct you to support.mozilla.org for your current problems.

The desktop thing... it doesn't work right now.   You'll have to do it by hand.  I'm linking below some utilities that will create those icons.  Tell us how it works for you!
