After upgrading Sparky Rolling XFCE version when shutting down shows Debian 12.
I think I made the mistake that when I was asked to choose about a configuration file that I put as answer Y.
My question is: Is this a problem, can I keep it as is, or do I have to change something?
When booting, tells me Debian 12 as well. For the rest seems to be Sparky, including Aptus etc.
Looks like you have installed base-files from Debian repos over Sparky, so show me:
apt policy base-files
and
apt policy sparky-info
Hi Pavroo
I entered both commands and the reply, directly copied from the terminal
jan@jan-aspirea31551:~$ apt policy base-files
base-files:
Installed: 12.sparky7~1
Candidate: 12.sparky7~1
Version table:
*** 12.sparky7~1 1001
1001 https://repo.sparkylinux.org orion/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
12.3 500
500 http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm/main amd64 Packages
jan@jan-aspirea31551:~$ apt policy sparky-info
sparky-info:
Installed: 7~20220729
Candidate: 7~20220729
Version table:
*** 7~20220729 1001
1001 https://repo.sparkylinux.org orion/main amd64 Packages
1001 https://repo.sparkylinux.org orion/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
So you have Sparky 7 for sure.
What else the commands show:
cat /etc/os-release
cat /etc/issue
cat /etc/lsb-release

All fine, it's Sparky 7.
Just wondering where exactly you saw that the system says it Debian 12.
Can you make a screenshot?
I made a photo when the system is booting, but get to see the same when shutting down
How do I get the photo in the post, there seems no way of uploading it, only URL

The forum does not seem to allow to upload attachments/photo's.
Open up a browser and do a search on "image hosting", pick an image hosting website of your choice, upload your image to the image hosting website and use the URL that the image hosting website provided you for usage in your post.
Please find the link to one of the photos.
Hope you can see it now

Looks like on the last upgrade of Plymouth, you have chosen Debian's setting instead of Sparky.
So...
Make sure you have Sparky Plymouth installed:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install sparky-plymouth
Then set Sparky Plymouth back as default:
sudo plymouth-set-default-theme sparky-blue
sudo update-initramfs -u
Thank you, that indeed solved the problem. A quick question: What did I do wrong, how can I prevent this from happening?
Probably it was with one of the questions, Y, N, I and I probably chose the wrong option.
As far as I remember, it was a question like "Do you want to install the maintainers option?" or similar.
Y,I - installs newer version of config
N - keeps local version
so I suggest to choose N next time
Thank you. I think I chose Y
I like the Debian 12 splash too almost as much as the Sparky Splash. I chose to allow the change the second or third time around as I got tired of the prompts during routine updates. Love the Blue color schema of Sparky, it is so Debian. Thanks pavroo and devs!
