Title: Changing the quick launch entries in LXqt
Post by: jeffneedle on June 29, 2016, 10:21:20 PM
Hi.  Just installed latest Sparky LXqt desktop.

I want to add icons to the panel at the bottom of the screen to make launching apps easier.  I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it.

Going to Manage Widgets, the quick launcher is listed.  I highlight quick launcher and click on configure, which is grayed out.  Of course, nothing happens.

There has to be a way to add quick launch items to the bottom panel.  Can someone help me with this?  Thanks.

Did you try right clicking the panel - http://lxlinux.com/#4?

I was hoping someone would post and enlighten you and me.  seppalta - that is an LXDE page.  I have a 3 paragraph reply about how to do it in plank (it ain't easy) and how to add widgets, but none of those address your question.  Please try freenode irc #lxde where lxqt is discussed or look for bug reports at https://github.com/LXDE/lxqt/issues.  Hopefully someone else will chime in.  pece out

Thanks.  And yes, I've tried right-clicking the panel.  I get far enough to see the quick launch entry, but the button to modify it is grayed out.

I do hope they get this fixed soon.  It's very irritating.

Thanks again.

I also installed Sparky 4.5.4 with LXQt.

To add a quick launcher icon:
1. right click on menu
2. Manage Widgets, a Config Panel pop-up
3. Click the Plus button even though it is grey color
4. Another window "Configure Panel" pop-up
5. Select "Quick Launch" and click "Add Widget"
6. A new button will be added "Drop application icon here"
7. Click the Menu, select your application and drag that application to the newly created button

Hope it helps
