Installation / Install with encryption?

Hi, I'm aiming to use semi-rolling for a test headless homeserver, which has the whole OS/drive encrypted (though not /boot). It's not clear if the cli install has the option to encrypt during installation.

My homeserver (ex-nas), does have graphics, does the minimalgui have the option of encryption? And after installing I could remove the gui

what is the problem?

Have you tried changing 'trixie' for testing? or using a different mirror?

I'm interested in using sparky (semi-)rolling. Though unclear what this exactly means. Would I need to re-install the OS at some point, or will it update continuously and I would never need to reinstall?

SparkyLinux 8 'Semi-Rolling' is based on debian testing branch, at this time is trixie-sid. (And is now, what will become Debian 13, codename Trixie, that is anticipated to be available in 2025')

Update: The error message appears when installing falkon browser. It does not go away when removing falkon or on rebooting.

Error details go like this:

Parsing Errors
The following desktop files have faile parsing by the underlying library and will therefore not show up in MenuLibre. Please investigate these problems with the associated package maintainer.

/usr/share/applications/kcm_trash.desktop

Exec program 'kcmshell5 kcm_trash' has not been found in the PATH

If the later, what makes it different to a rolling release.

Suggestions / Browsers, Privacy, Compartment...

Using Firefox, I noticed from Recommended For You, that Ebay knows what I do on Amazon and Amazon knows what I do on Ebay. I'm sure similar surveillance is widespread.

Solution? Use two browsers, one for E, one for A. (As well as using a VPN, taking usual browser tracking precautions etc.)

Extended solution? Compartmentalization. Use many browsers, each for a different task. (Great that Sparky has plenty to choose from in APTUS :)

However, when installing Chromium-based SRWare Iron and Ungoogled Chromium, I found that they both go to Google, despite choosing other search engine. Then after deleting both those, Chromium had Iron links in its menus!

So it appears different Chromium-based browsers share some common things and are not really separate. I imagine same would go for all Gecko-based (Waterfox, Ice Cat, Sea Monkey, Firefox) and Webkit-based (Otter, Falkon, Gnome Web, Dolphin) although I haven't tested these just yet.

My short-term solution is to use Brave (Chromium), Falkon (Webkit), Waterfox (Gecko), Pale Moon (Goanna), Mullvad and NetSurf for different tasks because I think they will stay compartmentalized and not share stuff with other browsers.

However, I don't know this for sure (I am not a programmer and do not understand the nuts and bolts of Linux)

SO MY SUGGESTION IS: keep an eye on what browsers share and aim for compartmentalization to make Sparky great for privacy.
