Title: Dual Monitors
Post by: johnh009 on August 19, 2019, 08:17:14 PM
While attempting to get video streaming in workspace 2 (to a TV), via the Control Panel, the panel (the drop down one with applets and menus) disappeared along with plank and conky. Attempting to start either produces error messages:

john@Sparky:~/Desktop$ sudo plank
[sudo] password for john:
[WARN 20:12:31.499287] [Environment:161] XDG_SESSION_CLASS not set in this environment!
[WARN 20:12:31.499347] [Environment:179] Neither of XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP, XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP or DESKTOP_SESSION is set in this environment!
[WARN 20:12:31.499394] [Environment:192] XDG_SESSION_TYPE not set in this environment!
[WARN 20:12:32.119329] [Environment:179] Neither of XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP, XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP or DESKTOP_SESSION is set in this environment!
[WARN 20:12:32.193382] Creating surface took WAY TOO LONG (34ms), enabled downscaling for this cache!

john@Sparky:~/Desktop$ conky
conky: desktop window (1000006) is subwindow of root window (132)
conky: window type - desktop
conky: drawing to created window (0x3e00001)

Any hints on how to recover this problem would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I've resolved the problems caused by this issue, basically by manually running the relevant .ini files in /usr/share/applications.

I will investigate the cause in due course and raise a new topic.
