Quote from: penguin on December 20, 2024, 10:11:46 AMI have been distrohoper for years. I have tested almost everything and used some of them for months(including Arch). Updating Arch after passed a week or more than a week, can produce unpleasant experience. Never experienced a similar situation with Debian testing distro, updating it after more than a month period.
My friendly advice. Stay with Debian or Debian based distros (even based in test repos...SPARKYLINUX is highly suggested). Actually i have 6 distros in my small HP 2170P (SparkyLinux-rolling,MX Linux,Geco Linux (OpenSUSE -Slowroll),Lubuntu,Spiral Linux and Kali Linux.

I have been as well. I never liked Ubuntu or its variables with the way Canonical is going.

I used Sparky in the past, so I know what's up with it. I just needed a change to Arch. But now it's like, what are all these daily updates? Do I need them? No.

It is more than evident, that I am going to do whatever I want about it.  Do you get it, now?

Wow, we've got a Drama Queen !!

Please mind your own business, or call a 'buahhAmbulance' and tell them about your shitty dramas.

OTOH, I don't give a damn about your crappy opinions.

Quote from: Ze_Mind on December 20, 2024, 02:25:36 AMI been on these forums for a good 1.5 years, but umm, I wanted to go the Arch way halfway in. I got too many problems that no one can answer. Endeavour forums, KDE forums, etc. Weird, I know.

I want to go back home to my roots, and the Debian I knew since Squeeze. I don't need the latest and greatest to be happy. A little more than Stable is fine with me. I'm not a hard gamer or video developer.

So, Hi again? :D

(This will go on my next computer that I will build next month)

Quote from: AxL on December 15, 2024, 06:52:58 PMIt seems that there is no interest in answering or solving anything.

Well, as I said earlier. My mates and I have no interest in donating any money either.

@AXL. I do not have any idea about your person. You can do whatever you want. You can use Sparky Linux without donation as many others do. It is free. pavroo did not keep Sparky Linux live/on track aiming to have any profit from that. He is not forcing no one to use Sparky Linux or he has no forced no one to donate because using of Sparky Linux. Sparky Linux needs our collaboration, effort or our small donation to survive. I think that pavroo deserves our help/contribution for his epic work.

@AXL. You can do whatever you want. You donate or not. By your will. But it is not honestly to spoil this forum,because you had not been able to post some lines on it. You have done 2 times. Shame on you.

Quote from: pavroo on December 15, 2024, 08:21:11 PMAlready made some changes, so should works now.
Clean your browser cache, or change your browser, or try to use tor-browser instead and let me know does still failed, please.
Thanks pavroo. I appreciate your epic work to keep Sparky Linux alive.

Since my last post I have solved my problem.

Anyway for all folks that will have problem with sddm login theme after sddm upgrade to sddm 0.21, I will suggest to use the follow theme that works great

https://github.com/JaKooLit/simple-sddm-2
Do not forget to make this theme default as follow :

Add the the follow line

Current=simple-sddm-2-master

under [Theme] section in both files

/etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf  and   /etc/sddm.conf :  editing these files as sudo

In my case I edited with mousepad as follow :

sudo mousepad /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf
sudo mousepad /etc/sddm.conf

Thanks pavroo. You are really great man.

Sparky applications / Re: weird anacron issue
Last post by joealuminium - December 19, 2024, 06:55:12 PM
I got this problem again installing 7.5 so it is still an issue I've just been through the process of tracking down why anacron wasn't running any of my cron.daily jobs and found the  symbolic link to /bin/true. Only after doing this did I remember I went through this earlier this year. I've slept since then and I  got my bus pass this year!

I should have looked on here first.

I have put it in my install check list notes along with /etc/default/grub having GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false, so other (dual boot) OS are not discovered.

Installation / Re: Packages are missing

Hi Sparkies,

in the meantime, since I discribed my problem first time, a lot of weeks have passed.

Unfortunately, Gimp and some other applications, like 'xsane', are not yet available. So I help myself with using 'pixeleditor' and 'simple-scan'. Of course, they are not so comfortable like my preferred programs. But, what should I do?

In any case, I whish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

See/write you soon.

Check if os-prober is disabled be default. That has been done as a security measure.

Add/edit the following line to your /etc/default/grub file, then run update-grub.

Change:

GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=true

to:

 GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false

then update grub.

Or go offline to print. You can't hack without access. Shutting down wifi or pulling your wired lan cord would prevent hacking while you print.
