Post by: nalsdixit on September 12, 2014, 04:27:17 PM
want to install chromium browser, but cannot find the package in synaptic package manager

using the terminal i get
nals@fujitsu:~$ sudo apt-get install chromium-browser
[sudo] password for nals:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package chromium-browser is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'chromium-browser' has no installation candidate
nals@fujitsu:~$ ^C
nals@fujitsu:~$

what is the correct pacakage i shld be looking for, i got the default xfce 64 repositories

Hi.

Its there but chromium , not chromium-browser...

gene@sparky:~$ apt-cache policy chromium
chromium:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 35.0.1916.153-2
  Version table:
     35.0.1916.153-2 0
        500 http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing/main amd64 Packages

While your at it, might as well install
pepperflashplugin-nonfree with it.... ;)
