System upgrading / Re: Gameover
Last post by gdstew - June 09, 2025, 01:16:40 AM
Thanks for the reply. I suspected that the workload along with other priorities was responsible. I have noticed over several years that the special editions usually took several days or more to be updated so it was clear that they were not high on the priority list. I really like the completeness of the gaming edition packages and I hope that it can get caught up to the others if/when you find some time.

Applications / Re: inxi -w (weather) does NOT...

Finally, it has been fixed. And now, works fine and without any problem:

Thanks, anyway ....

Edit.- I forgot to comment that in this case, it wasn't a user issue.
It was a problem with OpenWeatherMap, which is the one who provides the weather data. And, for some unknown reason it did NOT work.

Cheers !!

I hadn't time to update the Special Edition ISOs, but it rolling edition so you can update packages after installing it on a hard drive.

The next update of rolling iso is planned after Debian 13 stable popups, and then releasing Sparky 8.0 stable.

Why are the special editions (I am in particular interested in GameOver) still at 2024.12 x86_64/amd64 while all the others have progressed to 2025.03 x86_64/amd64? Thanks.

Applications / [SOLVED] -- inxi -w (weather) ...
Last post by AxL - June 05, 2025, 10:04:11 PM
For several days now, the option to see the weather with inxi -w (or also inxi -xxxw) simply does NOT work.

Graphic example:

Even using pinxi (the inxi development version) the exact same thing happens ...

Does the same thing happen, to any user who uses this option?
Thanks !!

Cheers !!

oohhh...
its about different versions of libs in multimedia repos and in debian repos.
the best way is closing multimedia repos, and downgrade some libs...
have to think about removing multimedia repos from isos, it makes to many problems.

Bump.

Newbie questions / Screensavers in jgmenu
Last post by brogild - May 29, 2025, 12:31:48 PM
In the MinimaGUI version I've noticed that the settings menu is full of screensavers but these don't seem to link to any settings, they just start the screensaver. Fortunately the .desktop entries are all in one folder and so have been easy to remove and now my settings menu is easier to navigate.
Is there any functionality associated with them being there that I might miss?

Sparky applications / [Fixed] APTus AppCenter crashe...
Last post by kwg - May 25, 2025, 09:57:42 PM
After this week's mesa update, running (semi-)rolling SparkyLinux on a QEMU virtual machine, APTus AppCenter began to crash while loading. I fixed this problem simply by installing mesa-vulkan-drivers on the virtual machine and rebooting:

sudo apt install mesa-vulkan-drivers
