The Razor-Qt distro installed the 3.2 kernel, which seems a wee bit oldish.
Is there a sane and easy way to update it, or is it more trouble than it's worth?

What exactly version of Sparky have you installed?
The latest one is 3.4 and features kernel 3.14.
