Dear friends,

I have just installed sparkylinux 5.3 mate 64bit in usb and tried today. I am unable to connect to the internet using dsl connection which requires login and password provided by the isp. I put all information but don't know the Parent interface of dsl connection. I tried to establish dsl connection without filling Parent interface option but to no avail. I attached an image to show the problem:

I am not using a modem. The internet/lan wire is connected directly to the lan port of my cpu. These are the Parent interfaces I tried in the DSL Connection 1 settings but to no avail: eth0, lo, ppp0. The only internet option I get when I click the network manager icon drop down menu is the Auto Ethernet not the DSL Connection 1.

The DSL Connection 1 does not show up in the dropdown menu but Auto Ethernet does. The Auto Ethernet appears in dropdown menu automatically after I would configure DSL Connection 1 even though I never configured any Ethernet connection. Below given are 2 pictures:

I will highly appreciate if someone could help me connect the dsl internet connection. Thanks in advance.

You need the modem.

My internet connection does not have a modem and it does not need one. It is a direct line connection from the isp to my pc. I could use dsl connection in other linux distro but having trouble with sparkylinux. I am interested to use sparkylinux.

This type of connection is known by PPPOE ADSL connection. Maybe is missing one package to work.

Take a read here to understand better what sparky linux is and where to search for help other than our forums:

And here to see if is there any package missing (so you can inform us to include at ISO):

Thanks for your suggestion. I installed the pppoeconf package in sparky mate, used the pppoeconf command in terminal and followed the instructions to connect to the dsl internet. The pppoeconf package was missing in sparky mate and I hope it will be included in future sparky linux versions. Thanks again.
