Title: RESOLVED - Cannot connect ot hidden wireless network Sparky 5.11 LXQT
Post by: FL Jack on May 13, 2020, 11:32:34 PM
I Upgraded to version 5.11 via a clean install.  Now I cannot connect to a hidden wireless network which I had no problems connecting to with previous versions of Sparky.

I added the connection information (SSID and WPA2 password) to network manager as before and no connection.  I repeated this several times.  When "unhiding" the network, I can connect.  The wireless chip is an Atheros AR9285.

This used to be a simple exercise what happened in 5.11 that changed?  Any assistance in getting connected is most appreciated.

Thank you.

After losing patience in playing with nm-tray to get it to connect to the hidden network, I installed network-manager-gnome and removed nm-tray.  All is now in full working order.

Guessing you are at  (0.4.2-1

Alf Gaida is the maintainer of nm-tray for Debian.  He can be prickly, but he has not ever been so to me.  If you have the details about being unable to get onto a hidden network you could email him.  Or not.  His email is below in the changelog. You  probably could not go with filing on the Debian BTS.

Via  the Debian change log
https://metadata.ftp-master.debian.org/changelogs//main/n/nm-tray/nm-tray_0.4.3-2_changelog

Nothing in the change log seems to hint at problems.

Debian Bts  - only one bug  #917924.  Appears to be about tiling wm's.

But, you got it fixed via changing to network-manager.

peace out
