Title: Thunderbird / IceDove Conflict
Post by: dhinds on April 03, 2017, 03:18:14 AM
After upgrading Sparky Multimedia (LXDE) Friday everything worked well EXCEPT Thunderbird and IceDove.  Both are installed but neither will open.

Both were working fine (particularly IceDove) prior to the upgrade.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Solutions?

I could remove and reinstall but with over 20 email accounts it would require more time and effort than I have on hand at present.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The first run of Thunderbird checks if ~HOME/.icedove directory exist, and:
- it should symlink from .icedove to .thunderbird
- or should copy .icedove to .thunderbird - if copy -> you should delete .icedove and .icedove-something* (don't remember) dirs

But, if any problem, I suggest to rename .icedove to .thunderbird dir manually, and remove .icedove* dir as well if any.

Thanks pavroo, I'll try that and report back.
