Hi, I have installed sparky ultra and I am very happy with it. But lately I get these errors when I update:
Code:
W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/source/SourcesIndex Hash Sum mismatch
W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/non-free/source/SourcesIndex Hash Sum mismatch
W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/binary-i386/PackagesIndex Hash Sum mismatch
W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/non-free/binary-i386/PackagesIndex Hash Sum mismatch
W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/i18n/Translation-enIndex Hash Sum mismatch
E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
whati is wrong? It happens always for a few days now.
also an other problem is with ssh when I logout I get this error:
Code:
-bash: mom-daemon: command not found
other than this everything is fine with everything (including ssh)
Hi
It looks like Debian server was unreachable.
Try again later.
Quote:
-bash: mom-daemon: command not found
Did you try to run mom-daemon manually? or what? What have you done?
I have absolutely no idea what mom-deamon is but I found it in .bash_logout.
Code:
# ~/.bash_logout: executed by bash(1) when login shell exits.
# when leaving the console clear the screen to increase privacy
if [ "$SHLVL" = 1 ]; then
[ -x /usr/bin/clear_console ] && /usr/bin/clear_console -q
fi
#mom-daemon stop
I commented it out and the error message does not appear now. Does anyone knows what it is? I checked other distros and I see no mom-deamon in .bash_logout
debian server is reachable but I see that these files do not exists. Why sparky is keeping requesting these?
for example see http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/binary-i386/
I see no "PackagesIndex". Does anyone else has this problem? How can I fix that?
Mom-daemon is a part of Marchob Menu and keeps applications menu up to date.
If pdiffs are happening, that might be the problem
Twas for me, adding to /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf
Acquire::Pdiffs "false";
worked for me. just posted it and then saw your similar problem.

Thank you. That seems to work since I do not get these errors now. The bad side is I do not know what this is doing. What pdiffs are?
EDIT: I googled it and found this a bit helpfull http://www.blackmanticore.com/87f3032e60abc009ec1f6af0f924f158
I deleted the line and the error did not appeared again. So I think problem solved.
for there other problem It seems that mom-deamon does not exist at all. I still have not fully understand what it was supposed to do but I could say it is also solved.
