You can do this using XScreensaver:

  • Open a terminal and type xscreensaver-settings

  • In the 'Display Modes' tab at the bottom left:

You have the 'Lock Screen After' section where you can modify / extend / cancel using the option you are interested in.

How do I prolong the time my desktop stays active(without screen block) I am using sparky  with open box, I've looked in the menu but can't find an option, I'd appreciate any help and even look past any sarcastic answer due to my ignorance on this subject.

Thank you and advance
Doug.

Well I found a solution myself. This is want I did.
  • Hit Menu - > Settings Manager -> Keyboard
  • Hit Layout
  • "Remove" Use System Default
  • Choose Caps Lock under "Change layout option" choose "a key you never use" under "Compse key"
  • Hit Close
[/list]

Your done. Caps lock don't act as Caps Lock!

Newbie questions / Dsiable CapsLock key
Last post by wow1968 - August 15, 2024, 08:39:40 PM
I'm new to xfce and SparkyLinux. First impression on Sparky is very nice.

But my thick fingers too often touch the CapsLock key. I want to know if there is an easy way disabling it.
I do not want to install gnome-tweaks as I'm now on xfce.

Any tip is much appriciated.

System upgrading / Goodbye boot after upgrade
Last post by frank62 - August 15, 2024, 09:26:11 AM
Hello.
I have installed sparky 7.4 , stable, Kde version, on a SSD connected to an ACER Aspire 5, with windows 11. As suggested by
https://forum.sparkylinux.org/index.php/topic,5787.msg15709.html#msg15709,
i turned off secure boot before installation, and then turned it back on afterwards. Sparky worked for a while, but after one or more updates ( of the kernel ), it stopped working, in the sense that, at boot there is SSD, but selecting it, the classic error message "Security boot Fail" appears, with the padlock.

Is there an easy solution ?
