Title: Sparky 3.5
Post by: pavroo on July 25, 2014, 11:51:55 PM
I'd like to refresh Sparky desktop so I changed gray style into blue.
There are 4 different desktops and a file manager showing new view of sparky.
Can you tell me what do you think about that and paste your desktops so we can talk about that, please.

The new look is awesome. I always wondered how to change the default gray view but didn't look into it.

I like these blue background and colourful icons.  :)

I think that Sparky-blue-2 is going to be my default. ;)

Umm... wait... Is that XFCE? I'm waiting for a MATE version. :P

All of them based on LXDE :)

Ah yes... Now I see it: the menu and the notification area differ + XFCE has progress-bar-like load monitors instead of the chart-based ones. When those DEs are stripped from their default config it's quite hard to tell them apart. ;)

In fact, only the battery plugin says that it's lxde.
The rest of the elements are similar.

I am not sure about the colored icon set. It's nice but I think it's too drastic change.
I made a few more screenshots with new, blue wallpapers and the old, gray icon set.
Let me know what do you think about that :)

Sparky-blue1 and Sparky-blue9 are my favorite wallpapers.

Regarding the icon set, I really like the new colored one. The colors are tasteful, expressive and bright enough to be interesting. On the other hand, I have to be honest and say that I think the old, gray icons are somewhat boring and drab. I personally do not use Wbar but it looks so much more alive with the colored icons.

Just my opinion....  ;)

I also like the colored icons in the wbar and the less intensive blue icon scheme a lot more. ;)

Also: where's the logo?! :P

It does have a different color scheme, but I think that making a watermark out of it and plcing it near or on the distro name would look nice. I'll try to make a mock-up.

I think coloured icon or more pleasing to the eye and easily distinguishable than the grey ones.

I like the coloured icons better. If we can choose one among them after installing or upgrading the OS it would be a lot better.

and

blue-2 rain drops is better.

Thanks.

I upgraded the sparky lxde and don't see coloured icons and new wallpapers.

You can't see that.
I didn't change it yet.
The icon set is on gnome-look.org

I'd like to add some explanations for that.
I did not change the default theme and the icon set yet, because:
- not too many of you voted on the one wallpaper
- I couldn't make my mind to choose the one
- the icon set is really nice but it's too colored for me
- I think it's not reason to change it 2 times per year so I still keep the same layout.

Anyway, nothing happens without reason.
Liquidsky joined our small community so mayby we could choose something from his work :)

Liked liquidsky's backgrounds, install background should be Sparky themed/labeled. After install, doesn't everyone change backgrounds - panels - icons to suit their own tastes? And then keep adjusting, just for fun?

Enjoying Sparky  :)
