steam was working ...

Steam support suggested I upgrade my system to Ubuntu 12.04 which is no longer supported. :o

The 12 page 170+ comments page that is the "fix"

$ steam --reset
does not fix

repo.steampowered.com
1.0.0.52-2 testing latest

support has responded again and notified me only Debian/HURD kernel will be support from now on

is Steam on Sparky dead?

I removed steam and steam-launcher packs from spary repos a while ago, but steam 1.0.0.54-2 is available in Debian's non-free repos and works fine.
