Title: Any thoughts on WPS?
Post by: kendew on September 17, 2017, 05:09:04 AM
Recently I installed the WPS suite from Sparky Testing onto a Debian Stable system.  apt-cache policy gives:
wps-office:
  インストールされているバージョン: 10.1.0.5707~a21
  候補:               10.1.0.5707~a21
  バージョンテーブル:
*** 10.1.0.5707~a21 300
        300 https://sparkylinux.org/repo testing/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

But I find if I try to open any of the WPS apps all I get is a brief flash of the WPS logo and then nothing happens.  I wonder if anyone has successfully installed WPS.  I understand there are options like OnlyOffice and FreeOffice.  OnlyOffice looks more complicated than what I need and I've no news about FreeOffice.  I also understand there is an alpha version of WPS at wps-community http://wps-community.org/download.html and wonder if anyone has had success with this.
Thanks
Kendew

Try to run it in a terminal emulator:
wps
and check for any output issue.

Good idea.
wps
/usr/bin/wps: 38 行:  3526 Segmentation fault      ${gInstallPath}/office6/${gApp} ${gOptExt} ${gOpt} "$@"

Complains of a segmentation fault but I'm not sure what to do about it.
Thanks for reply.

It is closed source app so can't check what's up.
I suggest to report it to the project team.
