I have Sparky installed with the previous ISO. Right now its rolling, but when Bullseye is released, how do I keep Sparky rolling?
Will Sparky create a new ISO once Bullseye is release and a new testing begins?
I noticed Sparky has new ISO. I'm guessing it has the updated files from my previous install. Mine though it up to date.
QuoteThe freeze for bullseye will happen according to the following timeline:
2021-01-12 - Milestone 1 - Transition and (build-)essential Freeze
2021-02-12 - Milestone 2 - Soft Freeze
2021-03-12 - Milestone 3 - Hard Freeze - for key packages and packages without autopkgtests
TBA - Milestone 4 - Full Freeze
Sparky is semi-rolling not rolling.
What does it mean?
It means that some manual changes are reqiured.
It already happens 2 years ago when Buster become stable.
As first, Sparky 6 will become stable after Bullseye become stable.
Then, I will post an easy guide, as I did 2 years ago for Sparky 5, which lets you switch from Sparky 6 stable back to rolling.
It would be in the Debian wiki for the Debian portions.
Suffice to say if in source.lists the word "testing" will give you a rolling release until society and Debian/Sparky collapses.
. " " " "bullseye" will become stable after the new release. Add backports at that time. That is what I did in 2016 on a brand new computer and it became stable in 2017. 2019 clean install. still stable. The atoms were always either sid or testing. Also check the Sparky wiki, further details for Sparky might be there.
I think I will create a page on Sparky wiki for all existing Sparky editions to not doing that every 2 years.
Edit:
Good Lord, I've forgotten I already did it:

I wasn't around two years ago :)
Please link your comment of two years ago. I searched for relevant info.
Is it just a matter up updating "sources.list" file?
Thanks for replies btw!
edit: is "testing" using Bullseye now. So changing to "testing" I will forever be Rolling Along...am I correct?!
pavroo has done a great job to make it understandable, here's the link:
