Title: Changing Icon Theme
Post by: Jimage on December 12, 2013, 02:18:53 AM
I'm not a fan of the default black and white icons, but every time I change the icon theme in Look & Feel it still seems to stay stuck on Noir Crystal.

There is a bug with Lxappearance.

Follow this instruction to change the icon theme too:

Excellent, that will work nicely until the bug is fixed.

A couple of other minor graphical details to note:

lightdm shows up as a black screen. Login form shows up when you click it and functions as normal. I installed qingy instead to get around this.

When desktop is set to a solid colour, transparent desktop elements show up the display manager background instead of the desktop colour. I intend to stick with a solid background for panels and conky anyway, but it might be something to look into for the sake of polishing the distro.

On the original live boot, text was missing from the desktop icons and Conky. After installing, it sometimes showed up but was usually still blank, and some characters wouldn't show up in certain programs. I reinstalled all the font packages I could find and changed the default LXDE font and this cleared up, so maybe it was a problem with my copy of the ISO. The problem still seems to persist in lightdm, but as I'm using qingy now this is no longer an issue for me.

Hrm, so apparently that is actually still lightdm running. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does the black screen/missing letters thing. The lightdm background is what shows through for transparent elements. Usually works when restarting X.

I have installed fresh copy of Debian testing and the Lxappearance bug still exist.

I works fine on Debian stable Wheezy, so we have to wait for fixing it.
