Title: SparkyLinux on 2013 Mac Pro (trash can)
Post by: bmc5311 on April 18, 2023, 09:43:03 PM
Has anyone installed SparkyLinux on a 2013 Mac Pro (trash can)?  As with all things apple, this computer is nearing its end of support and MacOS updates.  Looking to keep it relevant.

Thanks in advance,
 - B

Found a report on linux-hardware.org for Bullseye - MacPro 6,1 / Debian 11 - looks promising.

Never knew there was a serious thing as the "trashcan" form factor, the name suitable.

Quote from: bmc5311 on April 18, 2023, 09:43:03 PMAs with all things apple
I have Sparky installed on a 2010 Apple iMac and it runs like a dream.
Also have a 2010 Macbook laptop which is running Manjaro Linux without issue.
So I don't see a problem installing Sparky on a 2013 Mac Pro.
Adding some extra memory makes Sparky fly!
Good luck
Cheers. Jim
