Plans for the future / Re: Plans for 2021

Improve iso images to be able launched on machines with UEFI + Secure Boot on - testers needed!
I've disabled Secure Boot temporarily and enabled it again after the installation.
I'm running the rolling release and I'm not sure I could help testing the new isos, but I surely can try.

Installation / Re: Is it possible to install sparky with secure boot?
« Last post by Technical on July 25, 2021, 04:22:58 am »
Yes, you can!
Disable temporary the Secure Boot option in BIOS.
After the installation, reboot into Bios, enable Secure Boot, and the computer will boot Sparky without problems.
Welcome for both of us!

Hi, I've tried to boot UEFI/Secure Boot and could not manage without disabling Secure Boot in BIOS.
But, after the installation, I've rebooted into Bios, enabled Secure Boot, and the computer boot Sparky without problems.
Hope this helps!

Newbie questions / Color change
« Last post by CarmeloLabadie on July 21, 2021, 06:13:50 pm »
Is there any way to change the color of the files? By default they are in sparky blue - xfce desktop. Maybe someone knows how to do it?

Yes you can but you need to make a new partition of fat32 named /boot/efi and set it's flag as boot.

Desktops / CDE and Chromium won't play along
« Last post by zooriin on July 17, 2021, 11:57:39 pm »
Hello,

There's a problem with the CDE desktop, the chromium browser doesn't work. I have installed the latest updates and the chromium browser, but apparently the CDE has linked chromium as "chromium-browser" and not as "chromium" as it's supposed to be. I have attached a screenshot of the specific error I get. What should I do to fix it?

Hardware / Re: Os X on your wintel box?
« Last post by paxmark1 on July 15, 2021, 03:09:47 pm »
There are probably better places to search for this.   License issue also.

However if you desire to use a base system that Mac OSX develops their finished product from - you can always go with FreeBSD.   The way the FreeBSD software license is set up, companies can take it and change it (in this case fairly drastically) and make money off of it as opposed to GPL3.   No, FreeBSE won't look much like Mac OSX and it has a higher learning curve than Sparky and other Debian variants.

If you get the right hardware, it is rock solid.   Sparky is a lot easier.
