Applications / Gdebi installer not working fo...

Gdebi does not install google chrome or for any other package that I tried

Hardware / No WiFi on SparkyLinux 8.2

I've tried the live image of SparkyLinux 8.2 and have noticed that the WiFi isn't working. Neither scanning nor other operations of the nm tray are functioning. Using the nmcli still didn't help as nothing were shown on the interface other than "lo" which I can't use either to setup a WiFi connection.
Upon installing the live image onto my disk, same issue stated above is still encountered without any resolution found. My target machine is an ASUS Vivobook with intel core i3. The initial and succeeding boot doesn't have other kernels that can be selected. Same WiFi problem persists after every reboot.
Hence, I'm locked in the said issue.
Installing Debian 13.4 onto the same machine mentioned didn't have the same issue as the WiFi works perfectly.
Any advise on how to fix this?

Sparky applications / Some AppCenter icons run off s...
Last post by kwg - March 14, 2026, 10:23:55 PMIt's merely a cosmetic problem, but some of the icons on this page are off screen (which requires the user to scroll horizontally to see all of the icons):
AppCenter > Office > Notes
This problem is easily fixed with a new <tr> element in the code.
I proposed another fix here, which should (after a little work) make maintenance of the AppCenter pages a bit easier in the long run:

Installation / How to install Sparky on LUKS+...
Last post by sparkynoob - March 09, 2026, 11:05:08 AMI want to install Sparky on a LUKS-encrypted LVM. I played around with Calamares for hours last night and couldn't figure it out. I add a new partition of type "lvm2 pv" with the Encrypt box ticked and then add a New Volume Group, but then the VG doesn't show up anywhere for me to add LVs into so I don't know how to proceed.
What I tried next was partition everything manually and mount the partitions, with a little cheat in the terminal I found online ("while true; do sudo vgchange -aay; done") to prevent Calamares from unmounting it. This resulted in what appeared to be a successful installation but on boot I was greeted with a grub error of "unknown filesystem".
What's the cheat code here? Have any of you figured this out with Sparky? I'm using Sparky 7.8 by the way, the last of the 32-bit line. Thanks in advance.
(On an unrelated note I would like to give a big thanks to the forum admins for not making it a pain in the rear to register from Tor using a non-bigtech email address. It's a rare experience these days, very refreshing and much appreciated! Definitely worth a donation in my book, if only there was a crypto address in here somewhere... hint hint)

Returning to attempt a Sparky install after giving up on this password thing in Feb 2020 I can't believe this is still an issue six years later.
The solution I used this time was from @verndog's post from that year deleting the users.conf file,
"EDIT: The solution for me was to remove "users:conf" file. I tried edit the libpwquality section, and could never get it to work."
