Internet connection dropped after using it for an hour or more

I am posting this under "Newbie questions" because, although I've using Linux for about ten years, I was never proficient in using the command line or installing "standalone" packages.

My internet connection will drop after using it for an hour or more. In the past, I've used Ubuntu, AntiX, Debian, and MX Linux.  I've had this problem with all of the Debian based distros.

I'm using a Dell Latitude D630 with 8GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD.  I use the Ethernet connection because its 3X faster than the built-in WIFI.

The temporary solution is re-booting when the connection is dropped.  However, it's annoying if I'm in the middle of something and I have to start over.

Where do I begin to solve this issue?  Thanks!

Well, please check the following links:

➤ Want to know how you can use a program you have never used before? "man" will be your best new friend! Type "man <pkg-name>" in a shell.
➤ Or, point your browser to "manpages.debian.org/<pkg-name>" .... RTFM !!!

have you checked for a hot key that might be disabling or sleeping your network?

keep an eye on when it drops, in terminal
ping 8.8.8.8 -i 5

Is there anything extra in XFCE4 Power Settings?

also in terminal
sudo dmesg -w

or maybe your router is bumping you off, lease time too long? too short?

also check with  your smart phone if it has a wifi analyzer,
I find my neighbors are in an arms race to hog 2.4Ghz spectrum with boosters and wide bandwidth, find a quieter wifi channel
