Lost my sound

After an upgrade, I've got no sound on Sparky but do on Calculate LXQt.

Everything else seems to be fine.

This is Sparky Testing Multimedia 64 bit with the latest liquorix kernel on a Gigabyte X58 MB with no added sound card.

I have the pulse audio control installed.

What do you suggest I check?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions given.

If it happend after an upgrade, reboot your system and re-run it using an older kernel.
A new version of a kernel could lost drivers of your audio device.

I tried it with the latest non-liquorix kernel but still had no sound.

I'll have to try it with earlier versions.

Thanks for the advice, pavroo.

Sometimes in past I could accomplish things on Asus AMD C-50 netbook in alsa-mixer in terminal  that did not seem to be as easy to change in pavucontrol gui.  It would jump from digital to analog (and vice versa) for some upgrades.
Search forum for "More info easier via inxi"    If requested -  no inxi, no help for you by  me.

Still no sound.

Maybe I'll do a fresh installation.

When do you think the v. 5.5 of Sparky Multimedia Edition will be ready?

I'll try that.

Pulse Volume Control shows "No Hardware Output Devices Available"

Is a driver missing?

lspci | grep -i audio

Are you sure your video card does not have an audio component with the hdmi?

man pacmd

pacmd
>help
>list-sinks
>info
>list-cards

Way too much info, but once I used pacmd when nothing else worked.

Best of luck.  If time is money and music is important, maybe just add an audio card to one of your pci's.

I have hardinfo installed.

It shows under "Summary": Audio Devices / Audio Adapter / HDA-Intel - HDA Intel

What dependencies does that require to function fully?

In response to <lspci | grep -i audio>

I get:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller

Since I have sound using other operating systems, I don't think installing a sound card is the right solution.

And since Sparky is operating very well in other aspects, I'd like to get this fixed.

Although I have not recovered the sound on the rolling Multimedia Edition (and can't suspend / recover either), both problems were finally solved by installing SparkyLinux 4.9 MinimalGUI (Tyche).

Very nice and everything works.

I spoke too soon.

A serious problem occurred in Tyche (Sparky Stable 4.9) with Libreoffice, that I will discuss in a new thread.
